PARTNERSHIP FOR PROSPERITY - Sustainable Energy-Kenya 2011

Kibera Good Governance Conference - Page 2

The conference brought together all stake holders, like minded NGO’s and the youth to explore and develop a strategy that will contribute to improved livelihoods of young people, through meaningful and informed participation in the affairs affecting them. Kibera being one of the worst hit during the 2008 post election violence, it was appropriate for the youth to be mobilized in a meeting to discuss governance issues ,though a drop in the ocean, it would lead to a significant change in the outcome of the coming election. The theme of the conference was: ‘A time to Reflect, Get involved and Act.’ The conference started at 8.00 am at Harlequins Hotel, Nairobi, with registration of the participants, panelists and distribution of the IEC materials to them at the entrance of the conference grounds. There was a slight delay in kicking off the session as the keynote speaker arrived a little late but the crowd was kept entertained by the musician and guitarist Lydia Dola and her team.
